The Highland Drove Inn (www.highland-drove.co.uk/) with its superb Kyloes Restaurant is a 6 minute walk.
There are 2 pubs serving meals in the village of Lazonby (2 miles), 2 in Kirkoswald (3miles), a pub and  restaurant in Langwathby (2½ miles), and a hotel in Edenhall (2½ miles)

How to get there

From Penrith & the South & West :-
Take the Penrith to Alston A 686 road for 3½  miles when you will see the sign to Great Salkeld on your left.

From the East :-
If you come via Alston take the A 686 road to Penrith and just after Langwathby Bridge the sign to Great Salkeld will appear on your right.
 
From Carlisle and the North :-
Leave the M6 motorway at junction 42 taking the A6 towards Penrith.  In Plumpton village at the crossroads take the left turn to Lazonby and a couple of miles further on the right turn to Great Salkeld.

When entering Great Salkeld (from any direction) ahead of you is a large building on a triangular green.  Garden Cottage is opposite this on main village street.
